A BREAK FROM BLOGGING

 12th May 2019

Today’s blog is about some sad and good news that I have to tell you. I’ll get the sad news out of the way first.

This will be my last blog for a while. I need to take a break due to personal reasons. A few weeks ago my mum was diagnosed with a rare cancer. She is 78 years young, lives with my dad, who has just turned 80 and has been diagnosed with a heart condition, so they are both depending on me to help them during this period of illness. Neither of them drive, so I am needed to take mum for scans, operations etc. and balancing this with work and other day to day life is becoming a bit too much for me.

As an Autistic person life can be stressful at the best of times, let alone the worst, so I have to look after myself now so I can look after my parents. I am not alone, as regular followers of me will know, I am married and my wife is being very supportive in this difficult time. In order to limit my stress there are a few things I am putting on hold for a brief while. The main one being this blog.

Don’t get me wrong I still love blogging and I am extremely grateful to anyone who reads my work past, present or future. Unfortunately running a weekly blog does come with some stresses. Every week I have to plan what I want to write about and find the time to make it happen. Normally this is not a problem but with everything that is going on, it is an easy thing to put on hold to give my brain a little rest so that it can concentrate on processing the other areas of my current life.

Therefore I wish to apologise to anyone who does follow me, sorry, that there will be no more blogs until, hopefully, only the end of June. At this point mum, should be through her operation and recovering. All my current ideas for future blogs are being stored until then and I really hope that you are there at the end of June to pick up from this point.

I did say that there was some good news though… Over the past four months or so I have also produced videos which I have enjoyed doing and had some great responses from. However, I feel that they are flawed in many ways. I have been thinking about this quite a lot since my last video, which was for “World Autism Awareness Week”, and I have come up with a plan to improve my video content. This involves quite a restyling and I have been working on this, but not quite as much as I would like. Therefore in the future I hope to be producing some more videos with a better format which will be posted online; on social media and on my website. I am looking forward to sharing these within the Autistic community.

So once again I want to thank everyone for supporting me and hopefully I will be posting again at the end of June. Sorry for any inconvenience. Until then look after yourselves and stay amazing! You all are.
