30th December 2017
Well I managed to survive Christmas and I hope that all my followers did too. Off course after Christmas comes the New Year so I thought I would just do a blog on a few New Year items, such as my plans for the website etc.
To start with just a quick recap of 2017. The highlight of this year was my epiphany of how I can give back to the Autistic community and help raise awareness and acceptance. The website has been up and running now for just over three months and I have been pleased with responses I have.
I have been averaging about four hits a day which I am more than happy with, although I am always looking to improve on this number. To those people that read my blogs and regularly visit the website, I want to take the opportunity to thank you for your support. There will be more to come in 2018.
So what are my plans for the website in 2018? I intend to keep up the weekly blog. I have a list of topics I want to discuss about a range of subjects. Also I want to improve the content. There is a “Texts” and “Media” page on the website that so far, has little content on them.
Well, I have a new story in progress for the “Texts” page and a new video which will be linked to an upcoming blog, for the “Media” page. As well as this I have a series of promotional images to demonstrate the advantages of employing Autistics, under a campaign called “Employ an Autistic”. These will be added to the “Media” page too, as well as being published on Twitter. I have been working on these for months and I hope they help to address the lack of employment opportunities for Autistic people.
I also have several plans for new videos in the New Year which I have not begun work on yet. My biggest problem is time, as I have a full time job, horses to help with and various other activities that take up time. Also I have limited energy some days, which mean I do not get much time to work on a project.
The holidays have been brilliant because I have had so much free time to get things done. So I apologise that I cannot get things out as fast as I would like to, but also thank you for your patience. New content will be coming! As a finally note, currently I am using Twitter to alert people of an update, but I am thinking of putting a mailing list together too. Would anyone be interested? If so then feel free to send me your email address and I will add you to it.
Finally on a personal note, what does 2018 hold for me? Well, I will be turning forty this year, but other than that I just intend to enjoy 2018 as much as 2017 and to work on my issues such as my anxiety problems. Hopefully to improve myself in many ways.
I am not big on New Year Resolutions as I think people do not keep them. It is just putting more pressure and stress on yourself. I prefer New Year “intentions”, that I may or may not achieve, so what does it matter? Here are a few for next year:
* More walking outdoors away from people to re-charge.
* Try to attend more Autistic meetings especially with local branches of the National Autistic Society.
* Try to not let my anxiety control me so much
* Snap more twigs when out walking – because that sound is so satisfying to hear!
* Drink more hot chocolate – I like this and I never drink enough.
* To improve my meditation periods and keep them more regular.
* To carry on with the website and raising Autism acceptance.
* To help improve understanding of disabilities, invisible disabilities and mental health where I work
Other than these points, I cannot think of anything else but I am sure there are other things. If you do decide to have a New Year Resolution then I wish you best of luck with it. Thanks again for reading and I wish you a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
